: a branch of science that deals with the study of insects

Insects make up approximately 80 percent of the total number of animals on earth. There are over 1 million species of insects in the world with many more

awaiting discovery. Familiar insects include bees, bugs, beetles, flies, ants, grasshoppers, and butterflies. Insects provide a mostly overlooked and often

times midunderstood window into our fragile ecosystem. Understanding insects

is a small step in understanding the very world you live in.
